Nearly 94,234 meritorious students in Madhya Pradesh received Rs 25,000 each under the Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana to purchase laptops, enhancing digital literacy. Madhya Pradesh Boosts Digital Education with Student Laptop Initiative

On July 4, 2025, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav transferred Rs 235.58 crore to the bank accounts of 94,234 Class 12 students who scored 75% or more in the 2024-25 Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) exams. The funds, disbursed under the Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana, provide Rs 25,000 per student to purchase laptops, fostering digital literacy and supporting higher education aspirations. The initiative, active since 2009-10, has benefited over 4.3 lakh students with a total expenditure of Rs 1,080 crore.

During an event at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre in Bhopal, CM Yadav personally handed laptops to 15 top-performing students, including Prayal Dwivedi, who scored 492 out of 500 in the MPBSE exams. School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh was also present. Yadav highlighted that 60% of the beneficiaries are female, underscoring the scheme’s role in promoting gender equity in education. He announced that from next year, the state will directly provide laptops instead of cash transfers to streamline the process.

The scheme covers both regular and self-taught students from government and accredited non-government schools, aligning with the state’s vision of building a digitally empowered generation. This initiative complements national efforts under the Digital India campaign, aiming to bridge the digital divide and equip students for a technology-driven future. Since its inception, the program has provided additional resources like notebooks, uniforms, bicycles, and scooters to students, enhancing access to modern education tools.
